Seminar : " Involving citizens/communities in measuring and fostering
well-being and progress:
towards
new concepts and tools"
27 & 28 November 2008,
Palais de l'Europe, Strasbourg
The Council of Europe, in partnership with
the Autonomous Province of Trento (Italy) and the OECD is organising a
seminar on 27th & 28th November 2008 in Strasbourg on
the involvement of citizens and communities in measuring and fostering well-being
and progress.
The aim of the seminar is to develop
approaches which take into account shared responsibilities, as well as the
production and preservation of ‘goods’ (material and immaterial) for
collective well-being – for both present and future generations – in a way
which encourages a greater sense of responsibility for the future of our
societies.
The Council of Europe also wishes to use
the seminar to collect ideas which will enrich a Guide on this subject to be
produced as a contribution to the Global Project launched by the OECD
entitled « Measuring the progress of societies ». The final aim of the OECD
project is to propose some alternatives for GDP as an indicator of progress
and well-being.
