"Dosta", a Romani word meaning "enough", is an awareness raising campaign which aims at bringing non-Roma closer to Roma citizens. "Dosta" means that we want to stop prejudices and stereotypes not by denouncing them but by breaking them, showing who the Roma really are. They are not perfect, of course, but "who is?".

This Europe-wide anti-discrimination campaign is being run in conjunction with media professionals throughout Europe. Aimed at the general public and media professionals, the key focus of the campaign will be on various aspects of discrimination arising out of racist attitudes and prejudices, in particular those with an Islamophobic, anti-Semitic and anti-Gypsy background.

Roma communities are heavily affected by difficult living conditions. Rejection, in various forms, remains a dominant feature of relations between Roma and their immediate surroundings. Tension soon gives way to conflict, with the result that Roma are often harshly treated and in a constant state of insecurity. This is reflected in achievement at school, and illiteracy becomes a serious handicap in an environment where the use of writing is an everyday necessity : the future of Roma communities hinges very much on arrangements for schooling their children.

ECRI is the Council of Europe’s monitoring body, combating racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance in greater Europe, from the perspective of the protection of human rights. Its action covers all the measures needed to combat violence, discrimination and prejudice against persons or groups of persons on grounds of race, colour, language, religion, nationality or national or ethnic origin.

The European Youth Foundation (EYF) is a fund established in 1972 by the Council of Europe to provide financial support for European youth activities. It has an annual budget of approximately 3 million Euros. Since 1972, more than 300 000 young people, aged between 15 and 30 and mostly from member states, have benefited directly from EYF-supported activities. In 2004, the EYF supported some 300 projects involving more than 15, 000 young people.

The European Social Charter, adopted in 1961 and revised in 1996, guarantees social and economic human rights of all individuals in their daily lives. Eurimages is the Council of Europe fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works. Set up in 1988 as a Partial Agreement it currently has 33 Member States. Eurimages aims to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals.
