Introduction

The objective of this activity is to develop existing approaches to integration, community relations and re-integration in order to improve the participation of migrants and persons of immigrant background in the societies in which they live and their interaction with its members.

The activity implements the Plan of Action of the 8th Council of Europe Conference of European Ministers responsible for Migration (Kiev, September 2008) which called on the Committee of Ministers to reinforce social cohesion and the integration of migrants by developing policies to improve the interaction between migrants and receiving societies and the participation of migrants and persons of immigrant background in civil society.

The activity consists of the preparation of two reports on (i) interaction and participation and (ii) women and elderly migrants as actors of development in origin and receivintg countries.
