Parents in the UK encouraged to teach “The Underwear Rule” to their young children

10.07.13 The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) has just launched a campaign to teach children “the Underwear Rule” in the UK. The “Underwear Rule” was originally launched by the Council of Europe for its ONE in FIVE Campaign to stop sexual violence against children. The concept was developed for the Council of Europe by Grey Amsterdam and is currently helping parents and carers across Europe and beyond to discuss with young children the right to define personal boundaries, the right to say no and how to seek help. The Council of Europe website (www.underwearrule.org) is currently available in 20 languages, and it receives visits from more than 160 countries.

The NSPCC "Talk PANTS" campaign is going to be aired on nearly 60 local radio stations throughout the UK and will help parents teach the Underwear Rule to their children during simple conversations, also giving them the possibility to seek further advice through helplines.
