THE TEAM

A Conference on the implementation of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2012-2015

27-28/03/2014: Sexual violence against children, access to child-friendly justice systems for all children, children at risk and their placement in care, the recognition of children's rights in constitutions, the right of children to be heard and taken seriously. These are examples of the key themes which will be addressed at the Council of Europe Conference "Growing with children's rights" which will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 27 to 28 March 2014. The impact of the Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2012-15 will be discussed half-way through its implementation. The Conference will be opened by the Secretary General, Thorbjørn Jagland and hosted by Ms Milanka Opačić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy and Youth, Croatia, and will gather more than 250 participants who have contributed to the first successes of the Strategy at all levels. High-level representatives of governments, other international organisations, NGOs, as well as Ombudspersons and researchers will further contribute to the future of the Strategy by looking at the progress made so far in practice and proposing future priority actions. Via thematic round tables, this event will seek to identify the key areas and working methods that could or should be at the heart of Council of Europe actions until and beyond 2015. During these 2 days, our partners will have an opportunity to present their work and perspectives concerning the reality of children's rights, and share national good practices. The intention is to generate ideas and a common approach for the future to overcome existing challenges to the realisation of the rights of children in Europe. The aim is to inspire and be inspired by others in view of the last two implementation years of the Strategy.
