Presidents of Armenia and Serbia against corporal punishment of children

04.10.2013: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Serbian Preisdent Tomislav Nikolić expressed last week their support to the Council of Europe's campaign to stop corporal punishment of children. Their names are now added to the list of VIPs having raised their hands against smacking.

Armenia currently holds the Chairmanship of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers. In closing his speech to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, President Sargasyan focused on the young generations. "They are young, courageous and full of energy", he said. "Our societies will have a brighter future if we feed them the right ideas and educate them with true values that must be enriched by freedom and democracy and free from prejudice".
