University of Bedforshire wins Queens Anniversary Prize

28.11.2013 - The UK’s University of Bedfordshire has won the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education for its pioneering research into child sexual exploitation.

The Prize has been given in recognition of the University of Bedfordshire’s work, citing its strategic national importance, influencing UK policy and practice. Professor Jenny Pearce, who has provided her expertise in a number of Council of Europe activities and in particular towards the launch of the ONE in FIVE Campaign, described leading the work carried out by the research team as unique in its collaborative approach. This uniqueness was a result of having engaged with partners in government, funders, service providers and voluntary agencies, adding in particular that the researchers prioritised the voice of the child through participatory methods of work.
