The Congress checks the state of reception of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in legal systems

The Congress has launched, by sending out a questionnaire addressed to Group of independent experts on the European Charter of local self-government, a monitoring procedure on the state of reception of the European Charter of Local Self-Government in the legal systems of the coutries which ratified it. The questionnaire was presented to the Congrss Institutional Committee on 15 May by the Rapporteur, Christopher Newbury (UK, EPP-CD). It includes questions on the rank assigned to the Charter as a source of law in the country's legal system, or the level of judicial protection of local self-government. The last recommendation on this subject dates back to 1998, since then 17 more countries have ratified the Charter.

Le Congrès a lancé, à travers un questionnaire adressé au Groupe d'experts indépendants sur la Charte européenne de l'autonomie locale, une procédure de suivi de l’état de la réception de la Charte européenne de l’autonomie locale dans les systèmes juridiques des pays qui l’ont ratifiée. Le questionnaire a été presenté à la Commission institutionnelle du Congrès, le 15 mai, par le rapporteur Christopher Newbury (Royaume-Uni, PPE-DC). Il comprend des questions sur le rang que la Charte occupe dans la hiérarchie des normes du pays ou le niveau de protection juridictionnelle de l’autonomie locale. La dernière recommandation sur ce sujet date de 1998, depuis 17 autres pays ont ratifié la Charte.
