Failure of Chisinau election: towards a change of the electoral code?  [12/12/2005]

A delegation of the Congress visited Moldova from 9 to 12 December to observe the Chisinau mayoral election on 11 December. ''These elections were largely free and fair and complied with international standards'', stated the head of delegation David Lloyd-Williams. ''However, once again the election did not attain the 33% turnout needed for the results to be valid. This situation, the fourth such failure this year, cannot be allowed to continue''.  (More...)
 

Echec des élections locales à Chisinau : vers une modification du code électoral?  [12/12/2005]

Une délégation du Congrès s’est rendue en Moldova du 9 au 12 décembre pour observer l'élection municipale du 11 décembre à Chisinau. ''Les élections ont été équitables et conformes aux normes internationales'', a déclaré le chef de la délégation David Lloyd Williams. ''Cependant, une nouvelle fois, le seuil des 33% de participation nécessaire à la validation des résultats n'a pas été atteint.
