Seminar 'Deepening democracy with e-media'

A Seminar entitled 'Deepening democracy with e-media' will be held on Thursday, 27 March in the afternoon. It will be structured around three debates on “Open Data for transparency in local government ', 'Web applications for voters' and “Combining on-line and off-line local democracy.' The seminar will be opened by Karl-Heinz Lambertz, Chair of the Congress Governance Committee, and by Leo Aadel (Estonia, ILDG) and Annemieke Traag (Netherlands, ILDG), co-rapporteurs of the Congress on e-democracy . It will be an opportunity to discuss the experience of Cambridge City Council (United-Kingdom) in the use of open-data, the development of a web application 'Election Compass' in the Netherlands and the combination of e-democracy with traditional methods of democracy in Estonia. The discussions of the seminar will be the basis for the preparation of a report on e-democracy prepared by the Governance Committee of Congress.
Séminaire « Renforcer la démocratie par les médias électroniques »

Un séminaire, intitulé « Renforcer la démocratie par les médias électroniques » se tiendra le jeudi 27 mars. Il s’articulera autour de trois débats sur « L’open-data, un outil de transparence pour les collectivités locales », « Les applications web pour les électeurs » et « Combiner la démocratie en ligne et la démocratie hors ligne ». Le séminaire sera ouvert par Karl-Heinz Lambertz, président de la Commission de la gouvernance du Congrès, ainsi que par Leo Aadel (Estonie, GILD) et Annemieke Traag (Pays-Bas, GILD), co-rapporteurs du Congrès sur la démocratie électronique. Il sera l’occasion d’échanger sur l’expérience du Conseil municipal de Cambridge (Royaume-Uni) en matière d’open-data, le développement d’une application web « Election Compass » aux Pays-Bas, ainsi que l’e-democratie combinée aux méthodes traditionnelles de démocratie en Estonie. Les discussions de ce séminaire serviront de base pour l’élaboration d’un rapport sur la démocratie électronique préparé par la Commission de la gouvernance du Congrès.
