Situation in Ukraine and annexation of Crimea the focal point of Congress session debates  [19/03/2014]

The 26th Session of the Congress, held from 25 to 27 March 2014 in Strasbourg, France, will include several debates on the themes of youth, human rights, as well as on the situation of local and regional democracy in Europe, in particular in Armenia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Sweden, and the results of post-monitoring dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In response to the situation in Ukraine and in Crimea, the Bureau of the Congress will consider a draft declaration on the issue on 24 March. Subject to their approval, an urgent debate on the situation in Ukraine will take place on 25 March at around 6.30 pm. Furthermore, a ceremony will take place on 25 March to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Congress in 1994, following the Summit of Heads of States and Governments in Vienna in 1993. Herwig van Staa, President of the Congress, will meet the press on 25 March 2014 at 10.30 am in Room 7, Palais de l'Europe, Strasbourg, France.

La situation en Ukraine et l’annexion de la Crimée au cœur des débats de la session du Congrès  [19/03/2014]

La 26ème session du Congrès, qui se tient du 25 au 27 mars 2014 à Strasbourg, France, comprendra plusieurs débats sur les thématiques de la jeunesse, des droits de l'homme et sur la situation de la démocratie territoriale en Europe, en particulier, en Arménie aux Pays-Bas, au Royaume-Uni et en Suède, ainsi que les résultats du dialogue post-suivi en Bosnie-Herzégovine. En réaction à la situation en Ukraine et en Crimée, les membres du Bureau du Congrès examineront un projet de déclaration sur ce sujet le 24 mars. Sous réserve de leur approbation, un débat d’urgence sur la situation en Ukraine se tiendra le 25 mars vers 18h30. Par ailleurs, une cérémonie aura lieu le 25 mars afin de célébrer le 20ème anniversaire de la création du Congrès en 1994 - suite au Sommet des Chefs d’Etat et de gouvernements à Vienne en 1993.
