Armen Gevorgyan addresses the 25th Session of the Congress

Addressing the 25th Session of the Congress, Armen Gevorgyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Territorial Administration of Armenia, representing the Armenian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe stressed the importance of Congress’ missions, in particular in the context of the current economic crisis. “The Congress, the Committee of Ministers and the other institutions of this Organisation have the duty to ensure that the fundamental rights of our citizens are protected. This calls for efforts from all levels of government, including those of local and regional authorities. The Committee of Ministers welcomes the constant effort of the Congress to support its priorities and remains convinced that our joint efforts will continue to bear fruit, if we stand firm in our convictions and persevere together in our common objectives” he stated.

Lors de la 25e Session du Congrès, Armen Gevorgyan, Vice-Premier Ministre arménien et Ministre de l’Aménagement territorial, représentant la Présidence arménienne du Comité des Ministres du Conseil de l’Europe, a souligné l’importance des missions du Congrès, en particulier dans le contexte de crise économique actuelle. « Le Congrès, le Comité des Ministres et les autres institutions du Conseil de l’Europe doivent veiller à la défense des droits fondamentaux de nos concitoyens. Cela requiert une action à tous les niveaux de l’administration, y compris au niveau des pouvoirs locaux et régionaux. Le Comité des Ministres se félicite de l’effort incessant du Congrès de réaffirmer ses priorités. Il reste convaincu qu’une action commune de notre part pourrait porter encore des fruits, si nous défendons résolument nos convictions et que nous persévérons ensemble pour atteindre nos objectifs », a-t-il déclaré.
