Mercedes Bresso, President of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union, will address the 19th Session of the Congress in Strasbourg on 27 October 2010. In her interview, she stresses the complementarity between the two institutions: whereas the Committee of the Regions is working within the EU decision-taking and law-making mechanisms, the Congress has direct access to people, in particular through national associations of regional and local authorities, and to national governments.

Mercedes Bresso, Présidente du Comité des régions de l’Union européenne, prononcera un discours lors de la 19e session du Congrès à Strasbourg le 27 octobre 2010. Dans son interview, elle souligne la complémentarité des deux institutions : le Comité des régions intervient dans les mécanismes décisionnels et législatifs de l’Union européenne, le Congrès inscrit son action dans la proximité des populations, d’une part, en particulier via les associations nationales de collectivités territoriales et dans la consultation directe des gouvernements nationaux, d’autre part.
