Following a conference on the fate of Turkish Armenians at the end of the Ottoman Empire, the Secretary General stated: ''I am confident that the Turkish authorities will not waver in their democratic and human rights reforms at this critical junction in relations between Turkey and Europe''.

A l’issue d’une conférence consacrée au sort des Arméniens turcs à la fin de l’Empire ottoman, le Secrétaire Général a déclaré qu’il était ''convaincu que les autorités turques ne faibliront pas dans leurs réformes concernant la démocratie et les droits de l’homme, à ce point crucial des relations entre la Turquie et l’Europe''.
