Michel Hunault: Towards a European convention in the field of prison affairs [28/07/2003]
French parliamentarian Michel Hunault, a member of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, completed, in July 2003, an information-gathering tour concerning conditions of imprisonment in Turkey, Russia and Poland. On the basis of his observations, he prepared a report recommending the adoption of a European Convention on prison sentences and treatment. If adopted, the convention will aim to harmonise judicial procedures in the 45 member countries.

Le parlementaire français, Michel Hunault, membre de l’Assemblée du Conseil de l’Europe, a effectué, en juillet 2003, une visite d’information sur les conditions de détention en Turquie, Russie et Pologne. A partir de ses observations, il a préparé un rapport proposant l’adoption d’une convention pénitentiaire européenne. Ce texte, s’il est adopté, visera à harmoniser les procédures judiciaires au sein des 45 pays membres.
