The Criminal Law and Counter-Terrorism Divisions of the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the City Hall and the University of Malaga, organised an International Conference on Terrorism and Organised Crime held in Malaga, Spain, on 21 and 22 of September 2017.
This international conference brought together high-level national representatives from the authorities and sectors involved from all Council of Europe member States, representatives of international organisations and policy makers, all competent in the questions of preventing and fighting both terrorism and organised crime. Representatives from those countries participating in the Neighbourhood Partnership with the Council of Europe, in the framework of the South Programme II, took part in this meeting.
In addition to discussing issues relating to the crime-terror nexus and exploring realistic strategies to prevent and suppress terrorism and organised crime, the different conference sessions tried to identify how relevant actors can work together to share experiences, exchange information, develop practical strategies for transnational co-operation, and enhance the co-ordination of law enforcement responses.
