[Strasbourg, 17/10/2013 17:00] – Dans un memorandum publié aujourd'hui, le Commissaire souligne l'obligation des Etats membres d'exécuter les jugements de la Cour européenne des droits de l'homme et l'importance que revêt cette conformité pour le système de protection des droits de l'homme en Europe. Il met également en garde à propos des possibles conséquences néfastes pour les intérêts du Royaume-Uni, pour sa réputation internationale et pour son influence en matière de droits de l'homme si le pays se retirait de la Convention.

Le Mémorandum a été soumis en réponse à l'invitation de la commission mixte du parlement britannique sur le projet de loi relatif au droit de vote et d'éligibilité (des prisonniers).
