Kéténés (Together) for active youth participation

On 8 April at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, the Council of Europe organised a workshop for young people to work on the question of perceptions and participation of Roma and non-Roma youth. The event gathered 32 young people living in Strasbourg and having different backgrounds; Roma, Sinti, travellers and non-Roma. The event was titled “Kéténés”, meaning “together” in Romani.

As part of the event the young people discussed about situations of discrimination and inequality, and also to propose actions which will break stereotypes and prejudices existing against young Roma. As a result, few activities were proposed in the framework of the National Campaign of the No Hate Speech Movement in France as well as activities that the local associations can follow-up.

The event was organised in partnership with the French No Hate Speech Movement and the organisations ARPOMT-GDV (Association de Recherche Pédagogique Ouverte en Milieu Tsigane-Gens du Voyage), LATCHO ROM STRASBOURG and Le Collectif Européen des minoritiés discriminées.
