Training on Jury Trial for prosecutors

Within the continuous support that Council of Europe (CoE) and European Union (EU) 20-21 June are providing to Georgian judiciary in introduction and functioning of Jury Trial, a two day training on ECHR standards has been organized on 20-21 June for prosecutors.  

The aim of the activity was to increase awareness of prosecutors on such topics as Plea Bargaining, Hearsay and preliminary statements by absent witnesses, Double jeopardy, Jury as judge under the ECHR and reasoned judgements and juries.

The activity was organised in the framework of the EU – CoE joint project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in line with European standards in Georgia”, implemented under the EU-CoE Programme Partnership for Good Governance.
