Working group on data collection

Under Result 2 of the Project, a working group composed of representatives of all state agencies responsible for gathering information on cases of violence against women and children, gathered several times throughout the period September 2014 - December 2015.

Representatives of the following state agencies participated in the process:

Supreme Court of Ukraine;

State Court Administration of Ukraine;

Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine;

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights;

Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine;

Ministry of Interior Affairs of Ukraine;

Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine;

State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The working group fruitfully discussed ways to improve the Ukrainian system for data collection and received inputs on existing European practices through a study visit to Spain in July 2015 and an international conference on data collection in September 2015.

A national expert, Iryna KALACHOVA, worked on mapping the Ukrainian context, and her reports were used as a basis for discussion.

As a result of these activities, the working group formally adopted the final conclusions, thus identifying the next steps needed to improve the Ukrainian system for data collection.
