Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is paying a working visit to Brussels on 31 March and 1 April.
On Monday 31 March, the Secretary General met with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, primarily to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
He also met EU Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, notably to discuss on-going cooperation between the Council of Europe and the European Union in the fight against corruption.
On Tuesday 1 April, the Secretary General and Štefan Füle, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, will sign a “Statement of Intent” setting out a new longer-term framework for cooperation in the EU Enlargement and Neighbourhood Regions.
