Algeria joined the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe

On 22 June 2017, Algeria joined the North- South Centre of the Council of Europe, becoming its 21st Member State to share the mission of empowering civil society, in particular youth and women, through intercultural dialogue and global citizenship education, according to the values and principles of the Council of Europe.

With its accession Algeria will also bring to the North- South Centre its experience in these issues and will reinforce, through the North-South Centre, the voice of the South in the North, working within the frame work of the Quadrilogue composed by Governments, Parliaments, Local and Regional Authorities and Civil Society.

The Member States of the North- South Centre of the Council of Europe are currently 21: Algeria, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Holy See, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Morocco, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Spain and Tunisia.
