Reinforcing the capacity of the judiciary to apply European human rights standards at the national level

The 5th Steering Committee meeting of the project "Reinforcing the capacity of the judiciary to apply European human rights standards at the national level in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, supported by the Government of the Kingdom of Norway, was held on 6 March 2017 in Sarajevo. The project staff presented the 2016 achievements in providing trainings for the judiciary and the lawyers, the progress in the area of harmonisation of national judicial practice in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the establishment of human rights legal clinics at the Law Faculties of the Banja Luka and Zenica universities. The Steering Committee has also discussed and approved further project activities.  

The following institutions are members of the Steering Committee: the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministries of Justice of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, the Supreme Courts of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, as well as the Council of Europe Secretariat. The Observers in the work of the Committee are the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina / the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, all of them being involved in different ways in the field of the judicial reform.
