Back Slovenia: visit of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities

A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities will be visiting Ljubljana, Dolenjska and Lendava from 10 to 13 April 2017 to evaluate the progress made in the monitoring of the protection of national minorities in Slovenia.

The Advisory Committee will hold meetings with representatives of the government as well as civil society and national minorities, to discuss the implementation of the Framework Convention with relevant stakeholders, as well as academics.

The delegation includes Mr Detlev REIN, Advisory Committee member in respect of Germany, Ms Marieke SANDERS, Advisory Committee member in respect of the Netherlands, Ms Barbara WILSON, Advisory Committee member in respect of Switzerland and Ms Gisella GORI, Administrator in the Secretariat on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.

Following the visit, the Advisory Committee will draw up its fourth opinion on the implementation of the Framework Convention in Slovenia, containing specific findings and recommendations for follow-up. The fourth opinion is expected to be adopted in June 2017.

Note: Slovenia submitted its fourth State Report under the Framework Convention in January 2017.
