A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities visited Georgia from 23 to 27 March 2015 in the context of the monitoring of the implementation of this convention.

This was the second visit of the Advisory Committee to Germany. The Delegation had meetings with the representatives of all relevant ministries, public officials, NGOs, as well as national minority organisations.

The Delegation included Ms Helena HOFMANNOVA, Advisory Committee member elected in respect of Czech Republic, Ms Tove MALLOY, Advisory Committee member elected in respect of Germany, Mr Jeremy OLIPHANT and Ms Charlotte ALTENHOENER-Dion, Administrator, Secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.

Note: Georgia submitted its second State Report under the Framework Convention in May 2012. Following its visit, the Advisory Committee will adopt its own report (called Opinion), which will be sent to the government for comments. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will then adopt conclusions and recommendations in respect of Georgia.
