PTSD and SUD Prevention - assessment and capacity building in Ukraine

On 30th September – 3rd October Pompidou Group experts from Israel and Ukraine travelled to Kramatorsk, Slovyansk and Severodonetsk where they met with more than 20 practical psychologists who work with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in different mental hospitals and drug dispensers in eastern Ukraine. The activity was organised as a follow up to the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) training which took place in July 2016 where the participants have acquired theoretical knowledge of the Israeli treatment protocol on anxiety and stress related disorders, the SEE FAR CBT.

The main goal of the supervision visit was to guide the psychologists in implementing SEE FAR SBT in their daily praxis. Mr Miki Doron of the Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC) provided methodological advices in using SEE FAR CBT model in dealing with trauma, PTSD and SUD prevention. The participants presented their own cases in order to receive qualified recommendations and instructions related to obsessive disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), desensitization and especially on rehabilitation of children and aged people.

The supervision visit was supported by the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the Human Rights Protection of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine”.
