The purpose of the visit of the Ukrainian deputies was to discuss the preliminary conclusions of the Venice Commission regarding compliance with European principles and standards of the draft Law of Ukraine on amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (No. 5522 of December 9, 2016).

During the visit of the delegation, the authors of the draft Law of Ukraine, members of the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Organization of Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as the Committee on Legal Policy and Justice, had a long discussion with the experts of the Venice Commission on the need for reform of the Ukrainian Parliament in accordance with European standards.

Also, the Ukrainian delegation took part in the 111th plenary session of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, one of its questions devoted to the consideration of preliminary conclusions on the draft law amending the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada and bringing it in line with the Constitution of Ukraine.
