On 27-29 April the third final session of the Civic Engagement Academy was completed for three groups of participants – about 60 representatives of NGOs, media, local self-governments and national minorities from 14 regions of Ukraine – selected by the Council of Europe Programme “Strengthening the capacity of local authorities in Ukraine” in 2014. The 51 participants were awarded by the Academy’s Certificates.
The Civic Engagement Academy is a new Council of Europe’s training programme aimed on more effective co-operation between the civil society and local self-government authorities and it is based on the twelve principles of good democratic governance – Strategy for Innovation and Good Governance at Local Level – declared by the European Ministers responsible for local and regional government in the 47 member States of the Council of Europe in Valencia in 2007.
