The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe organizes regional training seminar for young local leaders on 22-24 November, 2016 in Lviv. The seminar will provide participants with a great opportunity to meet and communicate with international and Ukrainian politicians, experts, deputies of local self-governments, members of the Delegation of Ukraine to the Congress of local and regional authorities. 

The main purpose of this seminar is to provide a platform for exchanging the best practices in developing local democracy in Ukraine and helping young political leaders of Ukraine in getting an insight into European practices, raising their awareness on European Charter of local self-government, its practical application in Ukraine and other European countries, as well as introducing general principles of local and regional democracy.

This Call for Application addresses all men and women up to 35 years old from Zakarpattya, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk regions, actively engaged in social and political activities who meet one of the following selection criteria:

• are leaders of NGO or professional associations;
• recently elected councilors or mayors, or those who were candidates running for such posts during previous election campaigns;
• representatives of the Ukrainian local political party units, including their youth organizations and wings;
• informal leaders: bloggers, journalists, civil society representatives;
• representatives of active community groups and organizations.

The organizers shall give a preference to the participants, who have not yet participated in any such training programs and/or taken part in any internship programs in Ukraine or abroad. Knowledge of English is desired, yet not primary requirement for participating in this event.
