The Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the Human Rights Protection of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine” in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine launched a series of trainings “The right of internally displaced persons to social protection: application of Ukrainian legislation through the prism of European standards of human rights”. It has been planned that trainings will be organized in Kyiv, October-November 2016. There are around 100 representatives of management stuff from local cities and district departments of social protection from Kyiv, Dnipro, Donetsk and Luhansk regions that will take part in these activities.

A series of trainings was initiated as a result of the round table “Addressing the issues of social protection of internally displaced persons: national practice and European experience” which was held 15 of September 2016. During this  round table it was agreed on the need to organize a training which would aimed on awareness raising of participants on European standards of ensuring social rights of IDPs, improving the use of existing legislation in the part of providing of social protection of IDPs taking into account regional features and prevention of specialists’ burnouts.

The first training was organized on 12-13 of October. 25 specialists from Kyiv region took part. Participants got acquainted with activities of the Project of the Council of Europe, in small groups they discussed the most crucial issues of social protection of IDPs, juridical challenges in court protection of IDPs on national level and in the practice of the European Court of Human Rights.

Participants positively evaluated the training, mentioning among other, relevant information and the possibility to apply it in their practice. The next three trainings will be held in Kyiv for heads of local city and district departments of social protection from Dnipro (20-21 of October), Donetsk (27-28 of October), Luhansk (03-04 of November) regions.
