Job Profile: Scientific Programme

 

Study Director

Defining activities:

  • Manages a programme of scientific analytical studies;
  • Contributes to the development of analytical and evaluation procedures;
  • Manages the administrative, financial and human resources allocated to each study;
  • Manages a research team, sets objectives and evaluates results.

Professional requirements:

  • University degree in biological sciences, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology or chemistry;
  • Excellent knowledge of the methods applied in the quality control of biological substances or biological medicinal products;
  • Excellent knowledge of the texts and analytical methods of the European Pharmacopoeia.

 

Scientific Officer

Defining activities:

  • Organises and monitors allocated scientific projects.
  • Carries out  scientific evaluations of applications for certificates of suitability of medicines, based on the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia;
  • Prepares and ensures the quality of written reports and publications.

Professional requirements:

  • University degree in biological sciences, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology or chemistry;
  • Good knowledge of the methods applied in the quality control of biological substances or biological medicinal products;
  • Good knowledge of the texts and analytical methods of the European Pharmacopoeia.

 

Scientific Editor

Defining activities:

  • Drafts and revises scientific texts of the EDQM for publication;
  • Organises the administrative preparation of documents for publication;
  • Participates in the elaboration of the Style Guide of the European Pharmacopoeia, and the Standard Operating Procedures for the Department;
  • Helps in the preparation of working documents for the European Pharmacopoeia Commission.

Professional requirements:

  • University degree in biological sciences, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology or chemistry;
  • Excellent knowledge of the publication standards and procedures of the European Pharmacopoeia.

 

Scientific Assistant

Defining activities:

  • Carries out administrative and technical assignments in relation to the release of reference standards produced at the EDQM;
  • Prepares scientific documents and reports;
  • Contributes to the improvements in the Quality Management System.

Professional requirements:

  • University degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry or another relevant discipline;
  • Knowledge of the tools, documents and procedures used in the release of chemical/pharmaceutical products.
