First HELP Training-of-Trainers (ToT) in Georgia

The first HELP Training-of-trainers (ToT) took place in Tbilisi on 25-26 January 2017, aiming at setting up a pool of HELP certified national trainers in Georgia. It was hosted by the High School of justice and organised in cooperation with the Georgian Bar Association and the Public Defender Office. The event was funded thanks to the contribution of the Council of Europe’s Human Rights Trust Fund on ‘Improving the operational capacities of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia’. The Prosecutor’s office was also involved and it was an added value to have prosecutors attending the training as well.

Participants to the ToT came from a range of different legal backgrounds, such as judges, prosecutors, lawyers and PDO representatives. They acquired knowledge and skills on how to use adult learning techniques,  adapt HELP courses to the Georgian legal order, how to use the HELP e-learning platform and make their courses interactive.

It will now be crucial to make more HELP courses available in Georgian given the high interest of legal professionals in their content.
