The Steering committee on media and information society held its 12th meeting in Strasbourg from 20 to 23 June 2017. It granted observer status to IFEX, the network of NGOs defenders of freedom of expression.

The other highlights of the work of this session were in-depth discussions and comments on two draft CM recommendations, respectively on media pluralism and transparency of media ownership, and on the roles and responsibilities of internet intermediaries. The aim is for both drafts to be finalised and approved at the 13th meeting in December.
