On 27 and 28 September 2016, the Committee of experts on Media Pluralism and Transparency of Media Ownership (MSI-MED) held its second meeting.
The members discussed the first draft of a future Recommendation on media pluralism and transparency of media ownership, drawing on the conclusions from previous meetings. They welcomed the progress of the document in which all key elements and principles were identified.
The Committee also discussed two draft feasibility studies related to the media coverage of electoral campaigns. The first study examines the issue of gender equality, as presented in the media coverage of elections. The second one addresses the shift of electoral campaigning to the Internet platforms and the effects thereof. The members decided on the purpose and the scope of the two studies and provided comments with regard to specific issued to be further developed, as well as possible concrete recommendations resulting from the studies.
