In parallel of the 13the European Conference of the Electoral Management Bodies, organised by the Venice Commission and the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania (see photo) which took place from 14 to 15 April in Bucharest, Romania, the Division of Electoral assistance and Census conducted an expert meeting on the up-dating of the Recommendation(2004)11 on legal, operational and technical standards for e-voting.

During this meeting, experts discussed issues with regard to the structure and content of the Recommendation as well as the time-frame for its presentation to the Ad-Hoc Committee on E-voting (CAHVE).

The 13the European Conference of the Electoral Management Bodies focused on “New technologies in elections: public trust and challenges for electoral management bodies”. The conference covered in particular E-voting, and the Recommendation (2004)11 served as a basis for Conference discussion.
