Religious symbols at school, discrimination, successful integration and the discussion of controversial issues in the classroom – these issues and others were discussed in the Hemicycle of the Council of Europe this Thursday, April 28 by 600 students and apprentices from the academy – without taboos and with mutual respect.
Sophie Béjean , Rector of the Academy of Strasbourg; Elsa Schalck , Vice-President of the Alsace –Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine and Villano Qiriazi, Head of the Educational Policy Division of the Council of Europe, opened the closing ceremony of ‘The Month of the Other’.
‘The Month of the Other’ helps young Alsatians become aware of the need to respect others in all their difference, be they social, cultural, religious, or gender or disability-related.
