40 years ago, on 28 January 1977, the new Council of Europe building, the Palais de l'Europe, was inaugurated by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, President of the French Republic.  The Council of Europe Archives, managed by the Information Life Cycle Division (DIT-ILCD), contain videos, images and documents on the construction of the building and its inauguration. A number of them are available online. The non-digitised material may be consulted by Council of Europe staff (Multi-Service Assistant request no. 1602). Examples of what is available can be found on our dedicated web page.
