Entry into force of the Fourth Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Extradition

The Treaty Office announces that, on 1 June 2014, the Fourth Additional Protocol to the European Convention on Extradition (CETS n° 212) will enter into force.

The Fourth Protocol amends and supplements a number of provisions of the European Convention on Extradition (ETS No. 24) in order to adapt it to modern needs. These provisions concern, in particular, the issues of lapse of time, requests and supporting documents, rule of speciality, transit, re-extradition to a third State and channels and means of communication.
