Back The Div-As are coming to town!

Well, to be more exact, the mentees, mentors and team behind "Div-A – Diversity accelerator for Media"  will be coming to the city of Perugia for the International Journalism Festival in April.

Div-A is the Council of Europe's project aiming to increase inclusion in the media through support and development of new media startups.

Increased inclusion will come from the 10 mentees who are being helped to move from the ideas stage towards becoming sustainable media producers who will contribute to the diversity of the media scene and through the lessons learnt which will be transformed into modules to be shared with citizens hoping to do the same in the future.

The Div-As will be coming to IJF17 and talking at a panel on sustainability and inclusion on the 7th April.

Speakers are Kathryn Geels (Digital Catapult) who was co-author of Europe wide research into revenues for hyperlocal media, Sebastian Esser (Krautreporter) who is one of the mentors, Ivana D'Alessandro (Council of Europe) on the Council's work and resources for media diversity and Diane Kemp (Div-A coordinator) on the project and also embedding inclusion in production.

Also present will be the mentees who have project ideas ranging from 'STRAIGHT' a magazine with an alternative, more current version of female homosexuality to Media4Change, an investigative journalism agency in Central and Eastern Europe. Our mentees come from Armenia, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands and the UK.

Our mentors will also be on hand to offer advice as they have years of experience running media outlets and production companies: German Krautreporter, the Hungarian Direkt 36, the Greek Athens Live and the Italian Termini TV.

The Div-A team will be at IJF17 to network, attend sessions and continue developing their projects. Please come along and meet us.
