First Regional HELP Training-of-Trainers session in Serbia

The regional HELP Training-of-Trainers (ToT) session was organised for the first time in Serbia on 2-3 March in Belgrade. The event was organised in close co-operation with the Judicial Academy of Serbia

Participants in the ToT were 42 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovakia and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”. The 2-days ToT was aimed at setting up a pool of HELP Certified trainers in view of the implementation of HELP courses at the national level in co-operation with the respective national institution.

On day 1, extensive presentations on the HELP methodology - with a specific focus on the assessment of training needs, the definition of learning objectives and the selection of the most appropriate training techniques – were delivered.

On day 2, participants were introduced to the HELP handbook on human rights training methodology for legal professionals. In-depth sessions on the advantages of online training and the active role of HELP national tutors followed. A short session on the HELP e-learning platform took place before participants were divided in 3 working groups focusing on 3 existing HELP courses (Data protection and privacy rights; Property Rights and Reasoning of criminal judgments). Working groups were aimed at stimulating the implementation of HELP courses at the national level.
