Prominent journalists from press and TV outlets, university professors and representatives of the civil society from all over Turkey gathered in Ankara for a Roundtable on 28 June 2016 to provide their inputs with regards to judicial ethics in Turkey.

Participants could share their perceptions, concerns and expectations about the status and main challenges of judicial ethics in Turkey. They could contribute with their views and suggestions regarding how the process of drafting such code or guidelines should be structured; the main principles that should be uphold and how ethical norms should be implemented.

Their inputs will provide a valuable contribution in the preparations of the ethics code for the Turkish judiciary.

The Roundtable is part of a broader consultation process being conducted in preparation for the drafting of an ethics code or guidelines for Turkish judges and prosecutors, which constitutes the main objective of the EU-Council of Europe project on judicial ethics in Turkey.
