2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the Project on “Strengthening Judicial Ethics in Turkey”

The second Steering Committee meeting of the project on “Strengthening Judicial Ethics in Turkey” was held in Ankara on 29 November 2016. Participants included representatives from the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (project beneficiary), the Justice Academy of Turkey (project co-beneficiary), the Ministry of Justice, the Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation, the Council of State, the Ministry for EU Affairs, Union of Turkish Bar Associations, the Council of Ethics for Public Officials, the Ombudsperson Institution, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, and the Central Finance and Contracts Unit.

Opening remarks were delivered by Bilgin Başaran, Secretary General of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors and Michael Ingledow, Head of the Council of Europe Ankara Programme Office. Participants were briefed about the status of implementation of the process, results achieved and planning of upcoming activities. The meeting provided a useful opportunity for participants to share their views, comments and suggestions with regard to the further implementation of the project. The next Steering Committee meeting was agreed to be held in the fourth week of May 2017.
