Lydie Polfer tells Assembly that the Council of Europe and the EU are natural institutional partners

25.06.2002 - The Chairman of the Committee of Ministers stressed the importance of creating or enhancing synergies with institutions such as the EU, OSCE and UN. She recalled that her Chairmanship gave priority to fighting terrorism on various fronts, and emphasised the need for commitment to multicultural and interfaith dialogue.

Jean-Claude Juncker speaks in favour of a 3rd Council of Europe Summit before the end of 2003

Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker told the Parliamentary Assembly that he thought the European Union should accede to the European Convention on Human Rights, ''to avoid disturbing the unity of human rights case-law in Europe''.

24-28 June 2002 - Council of Europe Cultural Routes

Organised by the Luxembourg Permanent Representation, an exhibition, which takes place at the Council of Europe (Committee of Ministers Lobby), presents the Council of Europe Cultural Routes. The exhibition has been opened by Lydie Polfer, President of the Committee of Ministers, in the presence of Walter Schwimmer and Permanent Representative of Luxembourg Gérard Phillips.
