Lydie Polfer : A third Summit will be able to define the Council of Europe’s priority tasks
On opening the session of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Ministers, the Luxembourg Chairman-in-Office Lydie Polfer emphasised the vital contribution that the Council of Europe is making to the building of a united Europe. She said that, at the beginning of a 21st century on which a thorough redefinition of the multilateral European architecture had made its mark, a third Summit would provide an opportunity to define the priority tasks for the Council of Europe which resulted from this new situation.

Secretary General on official visit to Luxembourg
Council of Europe Secretary General Walter Schwimmer paid an official visit to Luxembourg on 9 April. The purpose of the visit was to finalise preparations for the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which Luxembourg will assume from 3 May to 7 November 2002.
