MOTIVATION

AEGEE (Association des États Généraux des Étudiantes de l’Europe / European Students´Forum) is Europe’s biggest interdisciplinary student organisations, striving for a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. As a non-governmental, politically independent, and non-profit organisation AEGEE is open to students and young people from all faculties and disciplines. Founded in 1985 in Paris, today AEGEE has grown to a Network of 13000 friends, present in 200 cities in 40 countries all over Europe.

Through our activities, we empower students and young people in Europe to take an active role in society. We create a space for dialogue and learning opportunities as well as act as their representative towards decision-makers. AEGEE strengthens mutual understanding among young Europeans and brings Europe closer to young people.

Luis Alvarado Martinez is the current President of AEGEE-Europe, representing the organization towards the European Parliament, European Commission, Council of Europe and the United Nations. Graduated in Translation and Interpreting with International Relations for English, Spanish, French and Italian.

We strongly believe that there is an important need for youth to be more present in the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe, to make sure that the youth civil society sector is fully involved and engaged in its work. This is why we believe that our candidature would be able to start a process of engagement of younger generations in the Conference of INGOs.
