MOTIVATION

I am Roseline Moreau, President of GERFEC (European Group for research and training of teachers holding Christian and other beliefs and convictions). I used to be head of a teacher training institute in Paris. You know me as rapporteur on the Education and Culture Committee and also through my emails.

I am now standing for election as Vice-Chair:

    1) My commitment
    a. Co-ordination of the working group on the teaching profession in the 21st century.

      i. This group brought together some 55 participants and conducted a European survey on the challenges of the teaching profession. Together with two very active colleagues, we analysed 1 000 pages of computer data and drew up a 115-page report. The report was used in preparation for the recent conference held jointly by our committee and Council of Europe DG II on the professional image and ethos of teachers.

    b. Committee rapporteur.

    1) My aims
    a. My experience in the committee shows that it is possible to discuss issues and work together in a team. That is why I should like to become more closely involved in our work. Together, we can influence the training of young Europeans who are open to the issues of the modern world and respect human rights, including, in particular, the dignity of all individuals.

    1) My priorities
    a. In liaison with the Chair:

      i. Expand the co-operation within the quadrilogue so that greater account is taken of our work.
ii. Contribute, along with the INGOs and the Pestalozzi programme, to the implementation in the 47 countries of the resolutions of the manifesto from the April conference.
iii. Step up education monitoring in a changing European and global society.
