The new Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Terry Davis, carried out his first official visit since he took up his duties, in Paris on Tuesday 14 September 2004.
Talks focused on reinforcing co-operation between the Council of Europe and its host nation France, as well as the political role of the Organisation in 21st century European institutional architecture, in the light of the forthcoming Third Summit of Council of Europe Heads of State and Government (16-17 May 2005, Warsaw).
Mr Davis met French Foreign Affairs Minister Michel Barnier, European Affairs Minister Claudie Haigneré and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Pierre Lafon.
