Bosnia-Herzegovina’s highest dignitaries greet with one voice their integration with Europe
At a press conference held on the occasion of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s accession, Beriz Belkic, Chairman of the collective Presidency, said that the signing of the European Convention on Human Rights marked the beginning of a new era for his country where fundamental rights would materialise in various instruments. Zivko Radisic, Presidency Member, added that he and his fellow-citizens wanted an autonomous BiH complying with European norms. Jozo Kriznovic, Presidency Member, stressed that it had been a duty for the Council of Europe to accept BiH; this was a strong message to its population, now recognised as a sovereign, indivisible people. Dragan Mikerevic, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, said that joining the Council of Europe would enable his country’s citizens to enjoy the highest standard of human rights safeguards. Sejfudin Tokic, President of the House of Peoples, went on to say, “We are all looking to a future at one with Europe.” Zeljko Mirjanic, President of the House of Representatives, concluded with these words: “Our youth have always revered European norms and culture; our presence here is a good thing for the sake of our country’s future generations’’.
