Maud de Boer-Buquicchio: ''Efforts against violence are clearly gaining momentum at national and international level''

08.11.2004 - In her second speech at the Oslo ministerial conference, Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General reminded that the Integrated Project, launched by the Council of Europe, ''introduced new transversal working methods'' to present a comprehensive response to every day violence. But we need to go further she said, mentioning a new inter-disciplinary project ''Children and violence'' to be started next year and the Convention on action against trafficking in human beings, which is currently under negociation. ''Our ambition is to reach an agreement on this text that achieves a right balance between the need to protect the victims of traffickind and the prosecution of criminals'' she underlined. Finally, she did homage to the cooperation with the United Nations, Unicef and the World Health Organisation.
