HIS SERENE HIGHNESS CROWN PRINCE ALBERT OF MONACO

His Serene Highness Crown Prince Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre, was born on March 14th, 1958.
His Highness is the son of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, (Monaco, May 31st, 1923), and the Late Princess Grace Patricia Kelly, (Philadelphia (U.S.A.), on November 12th, 1929 – Monaco September 14th 1982).

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Amherst College in Massachusetts, U.S.A. ; Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.
The Prince studied financial management in New York. This saw a period of instruction in the management and functioning of a multinational organization in Paris and New York.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
H.S.H. Crown Prince Albert worked alongside his Father, the Sovereign Prince, on interior questions and international policies. His father confers certain dossiers specifically to him for examination and follow-up.
The Prince has also developed personal contacts with the representatives of the Principality's economic sector and assists the Sovereign Prince in his activities of representation.

In the International Arena
The Prince has been President of the Monegasque delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations since May 28th, 1993.
Since 2001, H.S.H. Prince Albert chairs CIESM (Commission Internationale pour l’exploration scientifique de la Méditerranée), created in 1910 under the patronage of Prince Albert 1st. It is one of the oldest and most enduring intergovernmental scientific organizations in the world, aims to promote marine science for the protection of the Mediterranean Sea and its costal communities.
H.S.H. Prince Albert conducts different missions and official visits around the world. In 2003, He visited Cameroon, Madagascar, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica.

In the Economic Field
As well as following the activities undertaken by the Government and various economic agencies of the Principality, His Highness takes a very close interest in the initiatives of local associations.
Crown Prince Albert is Honorary Chairman of Monaco's "Jeune Chambre Economique" (Junior Chamber of Commerce), founded in 1963, aims to contribute to the economic, social and cultural progress of the community, following the principles of freedom, respect for the individual and tolerance.

Environment
In the environmental sector, His Highness closely follows the Principality's Environmental Groups and Associations in their battle against different kinds of pollution, with such actions as the annual Electric Vehicle Show, "Méditerranée Propre" (Clean Mediterranean), etc.

In the Cultural Field
H.S.H. Crown Prince Albert has assumed the Deputy-Chairmanship of the Princess Grace Foundation of Monaco, founded in 1964 to supports the Princess Grace Classical Dance Academy and benevolent activities, principally in favor of infants.
Since 1982, His Serene Highness is Deputy Chairmanship of the “Princess Grace Foundation - U.S.A. “, founded to perpetuate the memory and the engagement of Princess Grace in the artistic domain. Each year, the Foundation awards scholarships to talented young people in different artistic fields : those of dance, music, theatre and cinema.

In the Field of Humanitarian Action
Since December 1982, H.S.H. Crown Prince Albert is Chairman of the Monegasque Red Cross and Honorary Chairman of the association “Monaco Aide et Présence” (M.A.P.).
His Highness is also : Honorary Member of the International Institute for Human Rights ; Member of the Support Committee for W.W.F. France ; Patron of the association “Outward Bound France”.

Sport
H.S.H. Prince Albert is a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1985 and Vice-President of the Athletes Commission since 1989.
Crown Prince Albert is member of the Nomination Commission and member of Turin 2006 Olympic Games Coordination Commission.
Practicing numerous sporting disciplines, the Prince now assumes the chairmanship of various Federations and Organizations : the Monegasque Olympic Committee, the Yacht Club of Monaco, the Monegasque Swimming Federation, the Monegasque Athletics Federation, the Monegasque Bobsleigh, Toboggan and Skeleton Federation, the Monegasque Federation of Modern Pentathlon.
He is Honorary President of UIPM (International Modern Pentathlon Union)
In 1986, the Prince was named Honorary President of IAF (International Athletic Foundation).
